18F-NaF PET/CT Scan

An 18F-NaF PET/CT Scan is a nuclear medicine imaging test used to assess bone health and detect bone-related abnormalities. It involves injecting a radiotracer called 18F-sodium fluoride (NaF) into the bloodstream, which is preferentially taken up by areas of high bone turnover. A PET scanner detects the gamma rays emitted by the tracer, while a CT scanner provides detailed anatomical images. This combined imaging technique is highly sensitive for identifying bone metastases, fractures, and other bone disorders, aiding in diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning.
