A Gastric Emptying Scan is a nuclear medicine test used to evaluate how quickly food leaves the stomach. It involves consuming a meal containing a small amount of a radioactive tracer. A gamma camera then captures images at various intervals to track the movement of the tracer through the stomach. This test helps diagnose conditions such as gastroparesis and other disorders that affect gastric motility, providing essential information for guiding treatment plans.
